West Perry Middle School 6th graders traveled to JA BizTown last week to finalize important social studies classroom learning. The students learned financial literacy, how to work within a community and economy, job preparation, and how to run a business. In this simulated town, the 6th grade “citizens” operated a bank, managed a restaurant, made goods, and provided services, wrote checks, and saw the mayor they voted for get inaugurated (amongst other things)! The program helps students connect the dots between what they learn in school and the real world. Thank you to the teachers, counselors, principals, and volunteers who made this happen for our students.
